An interesting game, for sure. I liked the 2nd background theme the best.
IF I had the smallest of nitpicks about the game is the whole thing felt a bit on the easy side. I only met any real resistance on the 3rd level (mostly due to the dragon pots, or whatever they are called) and it took me a bit to figure out the pattern of the final boss.
Cute game, I really like the art (especially the sprite-work), feels fun to control and as a big fan of the classic-style Castlevanias I'll definitely play through it all when I have more time.
Only issues I've found are general performance issues (which is fine since it's a black and white GameBoy game) and a glitch where invincibility frames carry over permanently upon screen transitions (I assume due to not setting the i-frame variable to be off at the start of a new scene) but overall a really good and impressive effort.
It was so much fun to manipulate Sakura to get into Youkai's castle! The music and graphics combined with the atmosphere really made me feel like I was playing a Game Boy... I especially love the graphics of the huge bosses! The battle with Gashadokuro (giant skull) is my favorite because it is so powerful, meow~!
Did it all by myself! And it kinda broke me because there was hardly a moment in the 10 days of the jam where I wasn't working on it >w>'; Thank you very much!
(Your game is at 9:43, but I also have commentary, well there is some, I guess.)
I had a blast playing the game! I guess someone already said it, but yeah, the traditional Japanese feel in this is amazing. Graphics, the pixel arts and presentation are pretty great! Challenge is easy-just, and gameplay is solid!
Again, pretty great!
Quick EDIT: almost forgot, music/bgms are amazing!
Dang what a game. I love the traditional Japanese monsters and feel. I can't believe this was made in such little time, it almost felt like an official Gameboy game! Great stuff.
This is amazing! The music creates such a wonderful ambiance for fighting yokai and exploring the scary castle! This is pro level, I'll come back after paying rent to throw a few coins your way!
Thank you very much! And no promises, but I DO want to do it, but I desperately need a break xD (The double clock speed of the GBC will hopefully eliminate the lag)
Nice game with good music! the fireballs from the dragon final boss weren't doing any damage to me not sure if that is something that needs to be fixed or not

This is the game that led me to follow and enjoy your work!
I've tried this game on a Super Gameboy and a Gameboy Player and it works perfectly!
Glad you liked it! Always love to hear of people playing it on real hardware!
Awesome work! I liked how forgiving things were!
Thank you very much!

Nice job!
Thank you!

The glitch is fixed in the downloadable ROM, but also, I'm currently working on a colour version, and it has no lag!

Thanks for playing!
Btw, this is a real Game Boy game!
プレイしていただきありがとうございます! ちなみに、これは本物のゲームボーイゲームです!
It was so much fun!
So it's an actual GB program, not Game Boy style? Amazing!
すごく楽しかった!
ゲームボーイ風ではなく、実際のGBのプログラムなんですね! すごいにゃ!
This was fantastic. Did you do everything yourself? Who was your team? Great work!

Thank you very much!
That is incredible. Respect!

Glad you enjoyed it that much! Thank you!
Made it to the 3rd boss, but it's a bit tough for me. I'm planning to go back to it a little later. ^_^"
Nonetheless, once again; great work as always! You never cease to develop gameplay with genuine challenge.
... (So, will there be a DX version of this, too? :o)
Thank you very much!

It was an export error, I've removed the ROM for now, will reupload a fixed version later. (The issue isn't there in the browser version btw)
